Two years ago, the Gill UK research and design team were given a brief to design the best lightweight race gear for sailing, with specific emphasis on hot and sunny conditions. So commenced their most detailed research project so far.

Meetings were held with teams at the top of the game, from the TP52, to the Laser SB3 racing team, to committed weekend warriors.
Members of the Gill Race Team UK were also consulted on their ideal wish list for a collection of specific racing gear. The result is the most innovative, highest performing race gear available today, and even includes the lightest performance sailing jacket ever made.

The Gill Race Collection consists of 13 products, categorised into three main sections:

• Lightweight Waterproof
• Softshell
• Next to skin (t-shirts, shorts & accessories)

Each product has earned its place in the collection and the same attention to detail has been paid to each piece. All styles are extremely breathable, lightweight and have a UV protection factor of 50+ - the best there is.

This collection is of course perfect for our conditions here in Australia. With the first of the products hitting the stores recently, the Race Collection shorts have already proven to be a hot item. The silky feel fabric on top of its technical specs is bringing a lot of attention to the Race Long Sleeve T.
But, with winter fast approaching here in the southern hemisphere we expect peoples wants to turn towards the Race Softshell. As the name states its soft, very comfy, made from a 3 layer stretch fabric which is both waterproof and breathable and the micro fleece lining just makes it so cosy without compromise to freedom of movement.
